Barkaa Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 October 2026
Barkaa is a personal finance assistant. It records its owner's income, expenses, transfers and loans from messages sent to it on WhatsApp and in the Barkaa app, and shows them in a private dashboard.
What Barkaa stores
- Finance entries: amount, category, account, notes, people named in them and dates.
- Accounts, categories and loans the owner creates.
- Recent conversation with the assistant, kept so it can follow up on a request.
Bank SMS and bank app notifications are read on the phone. Only entries the owner confirms are sent to Barkaa.
How it is used
Messages are processed to understand and record entries. To do that, message text may be sent to AI providers (OpenAI, Google Gemini or Anthropic Claude), which process it only to produce the reply. Barkaa does not sell, rent or share data for advertising.
Google (Gmail) data
Barkaa asks only for permission to send email (gmail.send). It uses it to send sign-in codes and the reports the owner asks for. Barkaa does not read, store or delete any email in the Gmail account. Its use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Keeping and deleting data
Data is kept until the owner deletes it. Deleted entries are kept as void records so balances stay correct, and can be removed completely on request.
